Tino Derado - piano

The famous New York pianist Fred Hersch called Tino Derado an 'extremely gifted musician with an already unique style'.

A graduate of Berklee College of Music and New School, he spends 12 years in Boston and New York, where his 'extraordinary abilities in the field of jazz' earned him an honorary U.S. Green Card in 1997.

Already at the age of 6 Tino Derado gets classical piano lessons and changes already as a young teenager to jazz. Because of his mixed cultural origin with German mother and Croatian father, he quickly develops a strong interest in ethnic - and world music. In the past nine years, he has released 5 albums, where on Luminescence or Aguacero he can also be heard on the accordion.

He played with jazz greats such as Gary Burton, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Paul Winter, Jimmy Cliff, Craig Handy, Billy Drewes, Matthew Garrison, Rebekka Bakken, Nils Langren, Papo Vasquez, Orlando Marin y su orchestra, Andy Gonzales and Bob Moses. As musical director he works for Gloria Gaynor and toured with various formations in Europe, South Africa, Russia and the Middle East.

Since his return to Germany in 2003 he lives and works as a musician and composer in Berlin.
